Introduction to Kayaking Basics

Kayaking is a very exciting water sport and you can use it as a single-bladed paddle to move a narrow small boat called a kayak. In canoeing, you will be kneeling and using a single-bladed paddle, whereas in kayaking, you will sit and use a double-bladed paddle. This makes it easier to maneuver and steer the kayak through the water.

In an introductory kayaking course on the Trishuli River, you'll begin by mastering the fundamentals. First, you'll learn which kayak is right for you and how to sit in it correctly. You'll also be instructed in basic paddling strokes. The forward stroke propels you forward, and the reverse stroke slows you down or enables you to back up. The sweep stroke helps you turn, and the draw stroke allows you to slide sideways.

Safety is very important in kayaking. You will be instructed on how to get in and out of the kayak safely. You will also be instructed how to maneuver the boat in different weather conditions. You will also have a life jacket on and paddle with the support of other paddlers. Starting on flat waters like the Trishuli River is ideal for beginners not just for kayaking but also for river rafting as well as fishing. This is one of the most popular spot among the adventurers in Nepal. The best time for this course is from October to May. This offers a safe and fun introduction to kayaking
